Supporting Aging Services in Central Vermont

Thanks for Your Support!

On October 9th, 2021, the Central Vermont Council on Aging (CVCOA) held a fundraiser to support our mission and services. CVCOA staff and board members are touched by the outpouring of support from this event. We truly did come together again as a community, ensuring that older adults will continue to have access to resources needed for healthy aging with independence.

We are incredibly grateful for our sponsors, donors, volunteers, partners, staff, and community members who support aging services in Central Vermont! We are grateful for all you do for older adults in the community and your continued dedication to supporting Central Vermonters to age with dignity and choice.

This event was one more event impacted by COVID-19 and we made the difficult decision to move to a virtual event. With the safety and wellbeing of the community at the top of our minds, we knew that this was the right decision to protect everyone. Pivoting to a virtual benefit event brought with it some powerful opportunities. We heard about available resources from leaders in the field, celebrated our partner nutrition programs with a Community of Strength Award, honored our wonderful interim co-directors, Jeanne Kern and Davoren Carr, while welcoming our new Executive Director, John Mandeville, engaged in a creative activity and storytelling time with Susanne Schmidt, and listened to a powerful conversation between our Director of Family Caregiver Support and a caregiver in the community. Many thanks to all who made this virtual benefit event a robust and engaging experience!

Since we moved to a virtual benefit event, we worked with the Stoweflake Mountain Resort and Spa to donate all of the food from our planned in-person event to Meals on Wheels of Lamoille County. We will also be contributing funds raised from this benefit event to all of our partner nutrition programs to celebrate and honor their hard work during this challenging time. Staff and volunteers at nutrition program sites provide home-delivered and community meals to older adults in the community, helping to keep people safe while providing nutritious meals. These are frontline workers in the community that often go unnoticed and unrecognized. We owe them our deepest gratitude for protecting and serving the community during the pandemic and beyond!

We look forward to future events in 2022, with hopes of in-person events to celebrate and honor aging with this wonderful community of support. Stay tuned for future announcements about upcoming opportunities. Until then, visit our How You Can Help page to learn more about ways you can give to CVCOA.
