  • September 18-22 is Falls Prevention Awareness Week! Check out this video from the National Council on Aging: Six Steps to Prevent a Fall. Did you know CVCOA evidence-based wellness classes can help lower your fall risk? See all the classes offered throughout Central Vermont here.
  • Need to make changes to your Medicare plan? Open enrollment begins October 15. Call our office directly at 802-479-0531 make an appointment, beginning October 1. Check out this short video with tips for protecting yourself from Medicare Fraud. We also have a great article from Michelle Kessler of Vermont Senior Medicare Patrol that you can read here
  • Home internet service can be expensive! The Affordable Connectivity Program is making it easier for households to get access. Visit https://getinternet.gov/apply to learn more and enroll.
  • Meals on Wheels delivery drivers make a huge impact on peoples' daily lives! Read the article we received from one meal recipient on our blog.
  • On September 30 at 11 a.m., North Branch Nature Center cuts the ribbon on an ADA-compliant accessible trail. Learn more and RSVP here.
  • Central VT Habitat for Humanity just started accepting applications for an affordable homeownership opportunity for income-sensitive Vermonters in Washington and Orange counties. The parcel, donated by the City of Barre, is located at 22 Hill St. in Barre City. Apply by September 18 and learn more here.

Age Outdoors With CVCOA!

Join us for our annual fundraiser on Saturday, September 9 at Northern Vermont University in Johnson.

Age Outdoors the way you like! This fundraiser celebrates healthy aging and supports opportunities for older adults in Central Vermont. Tickets include lunch from Morse Block Deli.

  • Medicare and You Workshop: Tuesday, September 19 from 1:30 - 3:30 p.m. on Zoom Medicare & You Workshops are offered regularly to help individuals who are new to the Medicare system.   • Healthy Living for Brain and Body: Tuesday, September 26 from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm at Aldrich Public Library, Milne Room (downstairs) & on Zoom

    Join Alzheimer's Association and Barre Office of Local Health (VT Department of Health) for tips from the latest research. Lifestyle choices impact the aging process. Learn more about important information and research in the areas of diet and nutrition, exercise, cognitive activity and social engagement.

It's Senior Center Month!

September is National Senior Center month, and this year's theme is "Discover Yours!"


13 Senior Centers operate throughout Central Vermont, each offering more than a meal---exercise programs, class series, book clubs, and more! If you're already active in your senior center community, why not check out the next town over? See what else there is to discover!

Staff Highlights

We recently welcomed Jennifer to our case management team! She brings experience and education in a variety of positions including Long Term Care Ombudsman and Prior-Authorization Specialist. Jennifer has volunteered with Alzheimer’s Resource of Alaska, LTC Ombudsman Program and Oregon Food Pantries to support older community members. We are excited to have Jennifer share her skillset, enthusiasm, and passion for CVCOA’s mission.

Farm to Family, 3SquaresVT & Crop Cash

Farmers market season is in full swing!
