Together Again! - A Virtual Benefit Event for CVCOA
Join CVCOA for Together Again, a virtual benefit event to support aging services in Central Vermont! Saturday, October 9th at noon on Zoom (link provided to ticket holders in advance).
This jam-packed and fun-filled virtual event will feature music, comedic storytelling by Sue Schmidt, a creative activity, the presentation of a Community of Strength Award, a special video presentation, announcement of auction winners, and more!

During this event, we will be celebrating the amazing work of our partner mealsites throughout Central Vermont to provide home-delivered, congregate meals, and opportunities for connection for older adults. The Stoweflake will be donating food to a congregate meal at Meals on Wheels of Lamoille County and CVCOA will be contributing to the rest of our partner mealsites from the funds we raise through the Together Again! Virtual Benefit Event!

Memorable Times Online is a relaxed social time for people living with mild to moderate memory loss and their care partners. Sponsored by Central Vermont Council on Aging in partnership with ABLE Libraries of the state of Vermont.
Medicare and You Workshops:
Medicare & You Workshops are offered regularly to help individuals who are new to the Medicare system. During the COVID-19 pandemic, CVCOA is offering Medicare & You sessions remotely using Zoom.
If you want to participate, pre-register by calling (802) 479-0531 or by sending an email with your name, address, phone number, and the date of the workshop you would like to register for, to: [email protected]. We will then email you information on how to join in the workshop session on Zoom.

Montpelier Senior Activity Center - FEAST Program:
Will be looking for new drivers starting in November for the re-opening of their kitchen and shift back to daily hot meal delivery. Drivers needed for all delivery days.
Mad River Valley Senior Center in Waitsfield:
How many drivers needed: One Driver (regular)
Day(s) Needed: Every Thursday
Shift start and approximate end time: 11:00 am (meal pickup) - 1:00 pm (approximate window to deliver ten meals)
City Hotel Cafe in Barre:
How many drivers needed: 3-5
Day(s) Needed: M-F
Shift start and approximate end time: 9:30 a.m. -11:00 a.m.

10-Digit Dialing Required Starting Oct. 24th in VT!
On July 16, 2020, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) established 988 as the new, nationwide, easy-to-remember 3-digit phone number for Americans in crisis to connect with suicide prevention and mental health crisis counselors.
Beginning October 24, 2021, consumers must dial 10-digits (area code + telephone number) for all local calls. On and after this date, local calls dialed with only 7 digits may not be completed, and a recording will inform you that your call cannot be completed as dialed. Consumers must hang up and dial again using the area code and the 7-digit number.

Thanks to federal stimulus funds, a surge in state revenues, and more potential federal funds on the way, the Vermont Legislature is positioned to make historic investments in Vermont's pandemic recovery, address critical infrastructure needs, support Vermonters' health and well-being, and strengthen Vermont's communities, businesses, environment, and climate.
Legislative leaders Jill Krowinski, Speaker of the House, and Becca Balint, Senate President Pro Tem, are committed to working with you to navigate this historic moment. This fall, we’re conducting “Investing in Vermont’s Future: Community Conversations” to make sure the opportunity is informed by the voices of Vermonters and the experiences of their day-to-day lives. We’re reaching out to people across the state through regional Town Hall meetings, intentional small group conversations, and this online questionnaire.
We want to know what you care about, struggle with in your communities, and what you envision for Vermont’s future. Please share your ideas below. Your answers, along with responses from all the other Community Conversations, will be used to inform policy and budgetary work when the Legislature convenes in January.

Grandparent Refresh Class
Check out this Grandparent Refresher Class offered by The University of Vermont Medical Center! This virtual class is designed to provide ‘expectant’ grandparents and grandparents of newborns with a review of current best practices for everything from safe sleep to social media to childproofing to prevent those pediatric falls and injuries. The class will be hosted quarterly starting in October.
