Connecting Through Creativity

This June and July, many central Vermonters enjoyed lunch with neighbors while experiencing art on display at CVCOA supported Creative Aging Celebration Luncheons.  Six luncheons were held in Barre, Chelsea, Randolph, South Royalton, Strafford and East Montpelier and featured art created by local artists age 60+ in a large variety of mediums.  Artists displayed paintings, poetry, photography, scrapbooks, quilts, knitting and crochet, mosaics, rugs, furniture, pottery, basket weaving, collage, and more.

At these joyful celebrations, neighbors who have known each other for years learned something new from sharing stories and memories about each other’s work.  In addition to viewing local artwork, participants enjoyed lunch paid for by CVCOA thanks to a generous donor and learned more about CVCOA’s Creative Care Kit program and how to get involved.

Director of Community Engagement, Caitlin Roseen shared “At CVCOA, we know that lifelong learning and engaging in creative activities are important components to healthy aging. These lunches were a true celebration of the power of creative expression and the importance of coming together as a community. We thank our local senior center partners for hosting these events which helped us visit with old friends and make new ones!"
