Join with CVCOA to Combat Ageism

October 9th is Ageism Awareness Day, an opportunity to draw attention to the impact of ageism in our society and work together to build age-inclusive communities.

Ageism refers to stereotypes (how we think), prejudice (how we feel), and discrimination (how we act) toward others or ourselves based on age.

It negatively impacts our health and well-being, our financial security, and the economy. It impacts us at every age.

The good news is that we can do something about it together.

Spread awareness about and share facts about ageism.

Share stories about what the aging experience is really like. What do people get wrong about being your age? What do you wish people would know about aging from your experience or the work you do? Share your story with us , on social media, and in your community.  

Be a role model for aging by using this communication guide. Share how being age-inclusive benefits us individually and as a community.

Amplify the contributions of older adults by volunteering as an AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP volunteer. Show through your actions that older adults are vital, valued members of their communities - and that every generation has something meaningful to contribute.
