Programs/Support Groups

Programs:

REACH OUT – is a home-based support program for adults caring for a loved one with dementia. CVCOA case managers will provide home and phone visits over a 6-month period that will focus on education about dementia, caregiving and stress; home safety; caregiver health; relaxation; coping with dementia behaviors; and enhancing social support. Caregivers will work with case managers to identify problems and learn problem-solving techniques. Together they will create action plans to resolve these problems.

Powerful Tools for Caregivers - is a 6-week educational program designed to help family caregivers take care of themselves while caring for a rrelative or friend. You will benefit from this class whether you are helping a parent, spouse or friend, someone who lives at home, in a nursing home or across country. You'll learn tools to reduce stress; communicate effectively with others; reduce guilt anger and depression; set goals and problem solve; and take care of yourself. Suggested doantion of $20 to help defray cost of The Caregiver Helpbook; donation is not required to attend.

Next class will be held Wednesday, February 1- March 7, 3:00 - 4:30 pm at CVCOA in Barre. Registration is required by January 25; class size is limited. Contact jkern@cvcoa.org or 802-476-2671.
