Information & Assistance (I&A)

Whether it’s a simple question or a complex situation, I&A Specialists are available to assist individuals, family members, caregivers and others by phone on the Senior Helpline at 1-800-642-5119, e-mail, walk-in visit to the Barre office, or by appointment in the home and other community settings.

I&A Specialists are knowledgeable, patient, and supportive. They can:

  • provide accurate and comprehensive information about the wide range of community and statewide senior services, including: in-home help, transportation, public benefits, health insurance, housing, nutrition, volunteer programs, and much more
  • help to prioritize needs, identify resources, and build action plans
  • make referrals to CVCOA case managers, other agencies, or additional services
  • advocate on behalf of those who require extra support
  • follow up to assure that needs have been met
  • respect peoples’ rights to privacy and self-determination

Concerned community members also make referrals to I&A on behalf of seniors who may be at risk and/or in need of services.
