Housing

Vermont offers a variety of housing options for seniors depending upon their interests and needs. Some of these include:

Senior public housing provides subsidized independent apartments through a local federally funded housing authority.

Senior living or retirement communities offer independent living in the company of others, frequently with amenities such as shared dining, transportation and activities.

Assisted living and residential care provide assistance with meals and other daily living tasks for seniors who can no longer live independently.

Shared housing is non-related people living together as a family. This can be a home share in an individual’s home or a non-profit owned housing arrangement.

For information about all housing options and to discuss what is right for you, contact the Senior Helpline at 1-800-642-5119 or cvcoa@cvcoa.org
