Health Insurance Counseling

SHIP is here to help you with Medicare!

The State Health Insurance Program (SHIP) is designed to provide help with questions or concerns about Medicare-related issues for those 65 and over or with disabilities.

Trained counselors and volunteers help you with any questions or problems you have with Medicare or other health insurance, including the Vermont State programs.

Our counselors resolve insurance confusion in the following programs:

  • Medicare - Parts A, B, C & D

  • Medicaid

  • Medigap Supplemental Insurance

  • VPharm (Vermont's prescription drug coverage program for people with Medicare)

They can help you with:

  • Questions about Medicare, Medicaid or other health insurance coverage

  • Questions about Durable Medical Equipment coverage

  • Selecting and enrolling in a Medicare Part D plan

  • Problems obtaining your medications with Medicare Part D coverage

  • Sorting out confusing medical bills and statements

  • Filing health benefits claims or appealing denial of coverage

  • Identifying and correcting claims errors

Our staff can help you on the phone, in our office or in your home.
