Family Caregiver Respite Grant

Grants of up to $500 are available to provide respite for the caregiver. This is defined as personal time away from caregiving responsibilities.  This break is intended to support the caregiver's abilitiy to continue providing care to an elder to prevent or delay admission to a nursing care facility for as long as possible.

Family Caregiver Respite funds are to be used for:

  • adult day services
  • hiring a respite care provider
  • help with chores/homemaker services or personal care

The elder receiving care must be 60 years of age or older and need help with at least two ADLS (activities of daily living such as eating, dressine personal care, etc.)

1-866-257-6663 (toll free) - Care Connection Program helps family, friends & neighbors create a care community around a person with ALS.

American Parkinson Disease Association, Vermont Chapter:

1-888-763-3366 (toll free) - offers vouchers for respite care or adult day services.
