Dementia Respite Grant                                  

Respite funds up to $1000 are available to increase an unpaid family caregiver's capacity to provide care in the home to an individual with Alzheimer's or other dementia to prevent or delay admission to a nursing facility.

The person being cared for must have a physician's diagnosis of dementia, live at home within the CVCOA service area, and be a permanent resident of Vermont. He or she must not be participating in the Choices for Care, Attendant Services, PACE or Family Caregiver Respite programs. Financial elgibility: income of less than $32,490 for an individual or $43,710 for a couple if married.

Funding is to be used for respite needs to provide a break from caregiving responsibilities. This may include, but is not limited to: paying for adult day services, hiring a respite care provider, or employing homemaker services.
