Resources for Kinship Care Providers          

               

Vermont Department for Children and Families:

Vermont Kin as Parents (VKAP) is a nonprofit organization committed to supporting kin who are raising relative children. VKAP facilitates support groups and offers resources and referral services to caregivers. Call (802) 338-4725.

Respite Grants:

CVCOA offers a limited number of $100 respite grants to granddparents or other relative caregivers 55 years of age and older providing care for children 18 years of age or younger.

Grants can be used in-home respite with a sitter, child care outside the home (overnight), counsleing or support fees.

Support Groups:

Grandparents Raising Their Children's Children:

  • Barre - First Wednesday of the month from 10 am - noon at the Barre Presbyterian Church
  • Montpelier - Second Thursday of the month 6 - 8 pm at Bethany church. Childcare provided.
  • Waterbury - Third Tuesday of the month 6-8 pm
